Looking at this skirt, you'd never know it was once a maxi skirt with awful, tacky looking frills at the hem. I had purchased it many years ago during a sale at H&M during the holidays. Not sure if any of you would recognize it now. Makes me kick myself for not doing a before picture, but you'll understand soon enough. I love a good sale (and you know I can't resist floral prints) so I figured I'd just cut off the frills and fix the hem myself.

 Well, I did cut off the hem, but it wasn't until recently that I got around to hemming it. By this time, much of the fabric had horrendous fraying (they looked like tassels) and I had to cut all that off. Maxi skirt no more! I honestly think knee-length skirts are very flattering for us shorties. And really, it didn't take very long to sew the hem. No more than 10 minutes max. I really don't know why I put it off for so long. Remind me to kick myself again. I could have been wearing it all this time!

 As I walked hand in hand with my loved one, the soft, warm glare of the setting sun in front of us, I heard the unmistakable sound of crumpling metal high up on the bridged freeway. I let go of his hand, eyes wide open, trying to identify the scene of the accident over yonder. But I could see nothing. And soon enough, the cloying smell of burnt rubber wafted over to us. How fragile everything seemed then. 

 I understand the importance of going outside and getting a healthy daily dose of vitamin D (sunshine). But then you come across those days when it's simply much better to stay inside. This...this was one of those days. How to look poised and composed when you're already hot and sweaty and you've only been out in the sun for less than five minutes? Well, you put your hair up in milkmaid braids and keep a smile on - and pretend it's a delightfully fresh spring day with lovely little birds trilling in the nice shady trees. And then refuse to leave the shade for your photo shoot.

I think I've finally found my niche: thrifted/vintage clothing. Took me long enough. A year of blogging without any real direction. As you already know, I've always had a great love for vintage clothing, but never really put myself out there and aggressively search in thrift shops like I do now. This increased activity is actually serving me a purpose, but more on that another time. Until then, it's a secret! Anyway, this skirt I'm wearing was from a recent thrifting adventure. It was so interesting that I pondered over it for a while, thinking what a peculiar and clever thing it was!

 So, I really had no idea that Miley Cyrus made clothing (I don't really follow celebrities). Well, imagine my surprise when I picked this romper off the rack while thrift shopping. I was drawn by the floral print and style of the romper itself. It screamed 90s to me and we all know very well how popular that style is nowadays. While I do think rompers in general are a pain to wear, what bothers me more is how naked I feel when I use the restroom - especially the public ones! I get a tad bit paranoid that some prying eye might be peeking into the little crack between the door stalls. It's probably all in my head but a girl can't help it when she's had to practically undress.

 As the title alludes, I've always thought the sleeves on this vintage dress were like little baby angel wings. It is easily among my top 5 favorite vintage dresses. It's truly unique with a beautiful (almost watercolor) floral print against a happy peachy-pink fabric and high quality crochet lace sleeves. I've had it for so long that I don't remember where I got it from. Probably a high chance that I purchased it from eBay, back in the day when I went crazy with vintage shopping on that platform.
